The University contributed to the preparation of the Tourism Master Plan for Turkey covering the years 2018—2023 and 2023—2028 ; through this plan, it carried out studies to determine the necessary policies to increase Turkey's international competitiveness and promote the revenue-oriented sustainable growth of Turkish tourism.
KÜN also prepares provincial tourism master plans in parallel with the Tourism Master Plan of Turkey. The plans prepared for the provinces of Konya, Samsun, Van, Kütahya, Kahramanmaras, Kayseri, Nevşehir, Mardin, Hatay and Gaziantep can be cited as examples of these studies. The plans include comprehensive analyses on topics such as infrastructure investments, conservation of natural and cultural heritage, efficient use of resources and strategic positioning of destinations, which address together the economic, social, cultural and environmental dimensions of tourism. These documents, prepared by participatory methods, serve as a guide for the cities concerned to increase tourism revenues.
In addition, the Center supports the studies of provincial tourism promotion and development roadmaps prepared by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey and the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) for 81 provinces of Turkey; produces data-driven strategies that reveal the unique values and potentials of the provinces. Each plan prepared is shaped by the views and contributions of the Provincial Directorates of Culture and Tourism; it is supported by a macro-planning approach, with original analysis focusing on local needs and resources.
